Randy Carey,

CEO and Visionary Founder

The Bahamas Museum of History and Natural Science is the brainchild of Randy Carey, whose deep connection to the country’s history and culture drives this pioneering initiative. Growing up in the 1960’s during the political transition to majority rule in 1967 and observing the bold stance of a visionary leader introducing the concept of independence into our national dialogue, Randy was too young to actively participate but was keenly attuned to the national conversations about the Bahamas’ future. This formative experience, combined with the Bahamas’ rise as a global sporting power in the 1970s and 1980s, shaped his passion for enshrining the nation’s legacy.

Randy’s early exposure to museums sparked a lifelong appreciation for Bahamian heritage, and by 2010, he began collecting stories for what he envisioned as a dedicated museum. Despite facing challenges in garnering support, he remained steadfast in his belief that the Bahamas needs a top tier museum to preserve and share its unique history with the millions of people who visits the Bahamas annually. In 2013, Randy took the initiative into his own hands, seeking governmental backing.

Ten years later, Randy remains steadfast in overcoming the obstacles to bring this vision to life. In 2023, the vision was formally transposed by a professional team of museologist and digital development consultants into a plan that has been and vetted by AMMC and subsequently endorsed by the Rt. Hon. Philip Davis, Prime Minister of the Bahamas, marking a pivotal moment in the museum’s development. Today, with a formal proposal that clearly defines the goals and strategies in hand, Randy is leading the effort to introduce the Bahamas Museum of History and Natural Science to the Bahamian public as a vital cultural and educational institution, and to solicit public support.
